The Barisieur

Waking up is the worst

You wake up and, groggily, turn your alarm off.

Or if you’re living close to the edge, you put it on snooze and try and claim a few extra minutes as your own to lie in bed.

Nobody likes mornings, and if they say that they do then the chances are they’re not being entirely truthfully.

Or they are one of those people that seeming to be fuelled with that ‘get up and go’ attitude that sees them run two marathons and complete a presentation before they even reach the office.

Those people surely aren’t wired like the rest of us.

But what if you were woken up by the gentle aroma of a freshly brewed coffee that’s tantalisingly within reach?

What if you didn’t have to move get that first cup of joe without having to move?

Wouldn’t that be brilliant?

Well, yes, yes it would.

Luckily, the designer Joshua Renouf has seemingly answered all our prayers by coming up with the Barisieur.

Part coffee machine, part alarm clock, Renouf’s latest creation isn’t some monstrous creation that appears to have been assembled by Dr Frankenstein. Instead the traditional base – for it looks like any one of a number of alarm clocks that are on the market – gives way to an artistic structure akin to a delicate chemistry set.

Using a timed induction hob and stainless steel ball bearings, the Barisieur boils water for an automatic pour over brew which gives off that warm and comforting aroma that only coffee can provide.

There’s even a specially designed cooling slot for a spot of milk, if you desire a white coffee, and a compartment for extra grounds and sugar.

It seemingly has it all.

Sadly, at the moment, there is only one in existence.

But we are reliably informed that retail plans are afoot.

Wouldn’t that be the best way to wake up before heading out to your 9-5?
