Coffee drinkers are ‘more fun’ and earn more

Coffee Smile

Over the years we have heard many parallels drawn between coffee and tea and the people that drink them. People who like coffee are purists (whether that is natural or manufactured purism we shall let you decide) while people who prefer tea have certain standards and can be quite fussy.  But a new study has settled the debate, albeit it financially, about what your drink of choice says about you.

And if you pick a latte over loose leaf tea you’ll certainly like the results.

2,000 people in the United Kingdom were quizzed about their beverage habits and despite there being a slight majority of people who preferred leaf to bean, the results were clear.

According to the respondents, it was determined through some analysis that coffee drinkers in the United Kingdom, on average, earn nearly $3,250 a year more than their tea loving counterparts.

Those who get excited about espressos were also deemed to be ‘fun’ people in the workplace and tend to occupy management or middle management positions.

Comparatively, those who find tea tantalising are more likely to be viewed as team players rather than individual stars, but can be quite feisty over work matters when push comes to shove.

Katrina Webb, who helped conduct the study, said: Of course what we don’t know is whether [it is] the coffee that’s helping them to set their sights high, or whether they’ve adapted to drink coffee since they have started to gain success.”

“The survey also showed that more tea drinkers love their job, which perhaps has a part to play in the fact [that] they are so fiercely competitive.”

Now here’s the disclosure: The research was conducted by Nestle to tie in with International Coffee Day, so there is a chance that the results may have been slightly biased to begin with.

But given that we love our coffee are we going to complain?

Probably not.
