Wisconsin couple tie the knot at Starbucks

If you think that you’re engaged to espressos and in a consummate relationship with coffee then, unfortunately, you’ve got nothing on DeAnna Dodson and Jordan Senz who have been making headlines recently after news of their wedding emerged online.

The couple – who had been betrothed for several years – swapped coffee themed vows with one another before heading to Janesville, Wisconsin, to officially sign their marriage papers at a low key ceremony…

…held at the nearby Starbucks.

Their decision to wed in the coffee shop, it turns out, came about through necessity. But given that the pair regularly purchase drinks from the worldwide chain it made sense and soon fell into place.

Originally the American couple wanted to tie the knot at the local county courthouse, Fox report, but found out late in the day that the officials there only marry people once a month. After previously having to postpone their big day once before, the pair carried on, determined to marry on the last day of 2014.

The problem was that they had to find an official who would work on that day, and at short notice.

DeAnna carries on the tale: “I [went] online and found a reverend, Rev. Donnie [Onley], and we were either going to have to go to his home or pick a public location to meet him at.”

Starbucks was an obvious choice for the pair. After all, they are regulars there.

In front of a small group of friends and family Rev. Onley read them their vows whilst others sat around drinking their cappuccinos or ordering their lattes. As things progressed, some began to cotton on to what was happening and it quickly became common knowledge that a wedding was taking place.

Onlookers cheered and applauded when the vows were exchanged, much to the amusement of the couple.

“We weren’t trying to draw attention!” DeAnna proclaimed afterwards.

Once it was all said and done everybody had a coffee and went back to their daily lives. But Senz wrapped things up with the obvious pun: “I promise to love you a latte.”
