Coffee and winners of design awards

One coffee shop in Cumbria, England has hit the headlines recently.

Why?

Because it has been shortlisted for a prestigious design award.

The VeeVa! coffee shop, in Cockermouth, has caught the eye of the Restaurant and Bar Design Awards.

The shop is run by Mitchells, an auction specialist.

The nominations are no mean feat – VeeVa! will run against cafes from London called Kin, Kerbisher & Malt and also Polka Gelato, together with a coffee shop from Newcastle called Greggs Moment.

The interior of the shortlisted Cumbrian coffee shop was designed by Alison Tordoff – this nomination will be an accolade for the design company she represents, called Fidget Design, which is based in Windermere.

The winners of the competition will be announced in London in the autumn.

The Restaurant and Bar Design Award describes itself as the only concept of its kind which is aimed exclusively for hospitality design – although of course this is an enormously important part of hospitality – we are all affected by the design and atmosphere of our surroundings.

Entries are made for the award from some of the best architects and designers on the planet, from all sort of sectors from hotels, industry, education, healthcare, cruises and retail.

Those who judge the competition are very influential and are at the peak of their game in the design, hospitality and lifestyle industries.

We wish VeeVa! all the best in the final ceremony in September 2012 in the capital city.
