Slither Espresso- To Go!

A business man in Texas got more of a wake up than he expected in his local Starbucks in San Antonio.

Bruce Ahlswede had just finished a Tuesday morning presentation when he opted to use the facilities of the global franchise.

On arrival he initially thought it was a prank until the snake, who had been relaxing coiled up on the toilet seat rim, turned and looked at him.

Deciding it might be better to hold it until the present occupier had finished, he retreated from the stall to inform the unusual bathroom occurrence to the staff; who promptly ‘freaked out’ it has been reported.

His wife Michele accompanied him to the restroom and managed to snap a picture of the scaled intruder before it disappeared…down the toilet and back into the plumbing.

It has been confirmed by experts as a Texas Rat Snake, not poisonous but they have been known to hang out in toilets before.

She then posted a picture on Facebook and it promoted over 50 responses.

A statement issued by Starbucks insisted that ‘safety of our customers is our top priority’ and confirmed that there are ‘no further safety concerns’ regarding said snake…even though it has still not been found.

It doesn’t stop Mr Ahlswede using the store who pledged to still be a customer, he just mentioned when asked that he would be taking extra care when going to use the toilet.

I think that always checking before you sit – is something we’ll all be doing more often now.
