As reported in the Washington Post recently, it seems that Americans are some of the most coffee-adoring fans around.

Well, actually, that applies particularly to New Yorkers, who are completely smitten with the beverage.

According to some data which originates from an iPhone app called Eatery (a Massive Health app), the population of New York are heads and shoulders above other city-dwellers when it comes to coffee consumption.

The stats indicate that New Yorkers drink 6.7 times more coffee than those who reside in other big cities.

Who won the Flavour of India Fine Cup Award?

The results are in and have recently been published in the Hindu Business Line.

The winner of the Flavour of India Fine Cup Award has been decided.

This is a competition which has been organised by the Coffee Board of India on an annual basis, to promote the production of high-end gourmet quality coffee.

The aim?

To introduce these fine coffees to the international coffee industry.

Many people now make a point of hunting for the Fair Trade certificate on their coffee when they peruse the shelves of the supermarket or coffee house.

We all want to do the right thing and the Fair Trade organisation certainly has many benefits for the farmers who produce this certified coffee – as producers in a developing country, the Fair Trade organisation is effectively certifying that the grower has received a ‘fair deal’ for his produce, as defined by their guidelines.

The local community can benefit too, in terms of social improvements in areas such as health and education, as a result of the scheme.
