The Biggest Cup of Coffee in the World

The Biggest Cup of Coffee in the World

When you pop into your local coffee shop, the odds are you will be asked what size of coffee you would like – small, medium or large.

However, recently, a group of baristas from Croatia have created a cappuccino which is frankly well off the scale, in terms of size.

The team of baristas to create this monster cuppa should give an idea of the volume of coffee involved.

Around one thousand baristas gathered together in Zagreb and worked for just over three hours to create the drink.

So how big do you think that it was?

What volume of coffee do you think that a team of baristas that big could prepare over that time period?

The answer is that 2,012 litres of cappuccino were produced, by using 22 coffee machines.

The ginormous drink was prepared in the main square.

The sponsor of the cappuccino-making extravaganza was Julius Meinl Coffee – a company based in Austria – which wanted to celebrate its 150 years in business.

The sponsorship paid off, as the result was officially certified as the world’s biggest cuppa.

Previously, 80 baristas claimed that they had made 2,117 litres of the drink in Prague, but it was never duly certified.
