Joey Kramer to open up the Rockin’ & Roastin’ Cafe

Despite being on tour with Aerosmith for most of the year, Joey Kramer has had enough time on his hands to plan the opening of his first coffee shop. The well-known coffee connoisseur launched his own brand last year and now it appears that the drummer will be overseeing the launch of Joey Kramer’s Rockin’ & Roastin’ Cafe in North Attleborough, Massachusetts.

Kramer has indicated that this first coffee shop will act as a flagship store and that the business, hopefully, will become a national franchise.

However if you are pinning your hopes on this being a laid-back cafe that’s decorated in neutral tones and has easy-listening soundtracks gently emanating from the store stereo then you’re going to be disappointed.

“It’s going to be a coffee house with a rock-star edge,” he said before adding that this venture will be “pretty much like nothing anyone has ever seen.”

Described by The Boston Globe as being “more Las Vegas than Massachusetts,” the Rockin’ & Roastin’ Cafe has been designed to appeal to those who like things loud.

In the proof of concept picture that is doing the rounds at the moment crimson tones highlight black panelling, though that dark combination is juxtaposed by bright marble and ornate fixtures and fittings.

There will also be some bona-fide rock memorabilia on display too. Kramer’s drum set from Aerosmith’s recent world tour will be there and there will of course be a number of product-placed-puns; Janie’s Got a Bun being one such example.

But despite the novelty aspects of this venture, Kramer is in a bullish mood: “The fact remains that I’ll put my coffee up against anything that is out there. From Starbucks to Peet’s to Dunkin’. That’s why I put my name on it and why I’m working so hard.”
