Coffee shop trends in the UK

independent coffee

There has been an interesting article posted on Pirate FM recently and, in truth, it is not a lone voice.

There have been many posts and articles which have observed similar themes.

And this is good news for the coffee lover and the independent coffee shop owner.

So what’s going on?

It all has something to do with the rise and rise of the independent coffee shop.

A little while ago, many voices noted that although the Brits were tightening their financial belts, thanks to all the economic crises and doom and gloom, there were certain little pleasures in life that were not being axed.

Why not?

Perhaps it’s because they are inexpensive ways of feeling that we are still being a little bit spoiled and treated, when we forgo our bigger treats, such as holidays abroad and a car upgrade.

Coffee drinking   a cuppa from your local caff   is one of these treats that has survived the cull in spending rather well.

This is good news for local coffee shops, isn’t it?

However, the reasons for heading to an independent coffee shop are increasing.

And here we get around to the Pirate FM article.

As many of us know, there have been some tax scandals in the press recently   the big global companies that have been paying small amounts of tax.

It seems that customers are voting with their feet in terms of where they want to show their support.

The result?

More good news for independent coffee shops.

In fact, in the Pirate FM article, the owner of Espressini has said that recently he’s had to open up his coffee shop an hour earlier in the mornings, thanks to rising demand.
