Select your drink to help prevent kidney stones

Of course, your body will react to the things that you consume.

You are what you eat, after all, right?

However it is interesting to note the findings of a recently study by the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston   they have discovered that what you drink has quite a marked difference in the likelihood of developing kidney stones.

So what is bad for you?

In terms of the formation of kidney stones, it seems that sweetened drinks are something of a no-no.

Drinks such as soda can increase the likelihood of the development of renal stones.

However and interestingly, consuming other drinks can lower the risk of the development of these stones.

What sort of drinks lower the risk?

According to the study, coffee, tea and orange juice are all beverages which help to avoid the formation of kidney stones.

Renal stones are something of a problem and can affect 20% of adult males in the US and around 10% of females.

Although a standard piece of advice given by doctors to avoid the formation of the stones is that a patient needs to drink more, it seems that the sort of drink that is selected by the patient is significant.

So if you’re a coffee lover and this is the advice given to you by your doctor, you have rather a nice ‘medicine’ to take, don’t you?
