There was a recent article in Foodepedia which may be of interest to those who fancy learning a bit about coffee-roasting.

Have you noticed the increasing trend for people to get to know more about what they are eating and drinking?

Whether it’s learning from the experts on TV programmes such as Masterchef, or sampling a series of cheeses at the local deli, it seems that we rather like to know what we’re eating and what’s on offer.

And now, we learn, we can have a go at getting to grips with the basics of coffee tasting and developing our coffee palettes.

What’s the deal?

Caravan Coffee Roasters have started a series of workshops in their roastery in King’s Cross in north London, England.

The idea behind the establishment is to use the restaurant and also an in-house roaster, also offering workshops, so that those who fancy learning more about their coffee can do so.

What happens at these workshops?

The head-barista who runs the event, will explain the different types of coffee beans, coffee production and also discuss the different tastes of beans and blends and how they can be matched with food.

For those who are more adventurous, you can also learn how to roast coffee, try out some latte art and other skills, such as home brewing.

If you’re in the area, why not stop by?
