Macmillan success with coffee mornings

We have reported in the past about the wonderful job that Macmillan Cancer Support does for those who are suffering from the disease they offer invaluable end of life care, both to sufferers and their families alike.
There are very few people in the United Kingdom who are not touched by cancer, either directly or indirectly, at some point during their lives.
Macmillan use the humble coffee bean to help them raise significant funds for their wonderful cause.
And last year, 2012, was another bumper year in this regard.
What’s the story?
Macmillan runs a nationwide campaign each year called the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.
The theory is simple: those around the country who feel so moved, are invited to hold a coffee morning to raise funds for the cause.
This might sound relatively gentle and unassuming, but the sums raised are spectacular.
Because of the strength of feeling for the charity, the momentum behind the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is spectacular.
In 2011, the charity raised ten million pounds for its coffers in this way.
Yes, that’s right, ten MILLION pounds.
And in 2012?
They did even better.
Last year Macmillan raised fifteen million pounds for their charity, thanks to the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.
The initiative started in 1991 and has been going strong ever since.
It is held each year in September and it is easy to get involved, either by supporting and attending a coffee morning or by registering to hold your own event.
Big or small, glamorous or bijoux, grand or relaxed, every penny that is raised helps.
Last year some 116,000 registered to get involved.
Why not make a date in your diary for September 2013, to see if you want to become part of the scheme to help those combat the disease?
