Coffee supporting Alzheimers

We have reported previously that there have been medical studies to suggest that drinking coffee may help those who suffer from Alzheimers.

However, a news story has been in the press of late, which shows that coffee can also help in more traditional ways.

A coffee event was held to mark Dementia Awareness Week recently in the Vintage Coffee Bar in York.

This was no ordinary coffee morning   it was a musical extravanganza with a 1950s theme.

The event included (of course) coffee, beverages and cake.

However, there were many 1950s inspired additions on display too, such as vintage vehicles, street entertainment, dance lessons and also some music.

Given that the event was in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society, it was appropriate that the Singing for the Brain group took part, together with the Raynor Rock’n'Roll group.

How much was raised?

Over  1,700.

The Alzheimer’s Society is an important one.

It aims to improve the quality of life for those in the United Kingdom who are affected by the disease.

Some 20,000 people are members of the Society, including those who suffer from the disease, but also carers and other health professionals.
