What would your year in coffee cups look like?

It sneaks up on us, doesn’t it?
Just a couple of cups of coffee each day, but over a week, a month, a year, they could mount up to a stack as impressive as the Eiffle Tower depending on your coffee consumption.
This is a thought which has been on the mind of the creators of one of the entrants to the London Design Festival.
The event took place in September 2013 and Time Out picked out the design ’365 A Year in Cups’, as one of the top exhibitions to look out for.
The exhibition was set up in the windows of Anthropologie in Regent Street by an innovative New York artist, Gwyneth Leech.
The installation was made up of hand-decorated paper coffee cups, one for each day, expressing different images to reflect each day (and a note of the location, date and beverage contained in the cup is noted on the bottom).
This piece was not only a stark portrayal of consumption, but also an apt portfolio of a years worth of emotion, fantastic use of colour and eclectic material usage.
It seems that coffee and its consumption has gone on to inspire various artists.
We have reported on some of the other artistic designs which have been created out of coffee.
One artist created tiny sculptures out of coffee beans, another artist used the coffee itself as a paint-like medium to create works with fantastic shade and depth, (it probably smelled nice too!)
So there you have it, not just a tasty beverage, a fantastic form of expression and artistic inspiration too.
