Success of suspended coffee

Coffee Love

We reported on it previously and it is still, it appears, going strong.

The coffee lovers of the world are a compassionate, generous lot and have created their own secret, unofficial charity.

Suspended coffee idea started in Italy, took roots in Australia and is making its way around the world, another fantastic way that people can help each other out, anonymously.

According to reports, for instance in The Portsmouth News, the suspended coffee is alive and well and helping those in need who are in financial straits.

It is a generous scheme which enables customers in coffee houses to act as good Samaritans and buy a drink for someone, anyone, who is struggling to make ends meet.

The ‘suspended’ drink is noted by the coffee house and then when someone with a thirst but no cash arrives later they can claim a coffee which is effectively ‘free’ to the customer in need.

In these economic troubles, this scheme is particularly relevant.

As reported in the Portsmouth News, many people have taken part in the scheme in Cafe Imbizo, which is part of the Fareham Community Church and is a not-for-profit venture.

In this cafe, the money paid for suspended coffee goes a little further and people can also choose food from the menu, as well as a hot beverage.

The scheme has been popular in many cities and in the regions in the UK.

It is endearing to hear that help is at hand, to those who are suffering financially, especially as the weather turns, it’s literally a heart-warming tale.

Many of the larger cooperate chains won’t take part but it’s nice to know that local shops and the community are doing their best to pull together and their priority is the customer and quality of service, not the price tag.
