It is ten years since the Philippine Coffee Board Inc began and the plans for the celebrations are underway.
There is a nickname for the annual coffee festival which has arisen in the Philippines to celebrate the Board – ‘Coffee Origins.’
It is a popular day and Philippine coffee is promoted at the event.
Thousands of visitors to the Coffee Origins festival will get a free cup!
Where is it to be held?
The venue is the Greenbelt 5 Gallery in Makati City.
It will take place over ten days between 4 and 14 October 2012.
What will happen at the event?
Many coffee varieties will be featured, such as Negros and Sulu. In addition, the festival is an opportunity to showcase new projects.
For example, there is a ‘Buena Vista’ scheme under way, which aims to replant Arabica coffee.
In addition, there will be a National Coffee Summit at the event when stakeholders can come to discuss how to implement a mission to plant four million trees and locate suitable places to plant coffee.
Suggestions have been made that places at a high elevation, in rainforests and where soils are naturally organic, are good venues to consider.
