Coffee is a winner Down Under

“Would you like tea or coffee?” is a question that many of us hear many times a day.
Some of us are staunchly loyal to one camp or the other.
However, according to several reports in the Australian online press, it seems that those Down Under are beginning to move more in favour of one beverage than the other.
Traditionally, tea was top of the pops in terms of consumption in the country.
This is probably true of many countries around the globe, isn’t it?
However, there is a change on the wind.
How do we know?
A report has been compiled and released recently by BIS Shrapnel.
What were the findings?
There has been a stunning 46% increase in the amount of espresso-based drinks which are consumed during the working day (business hours).
What about at home?
There has been an increase there too, by almost 20%.
By contrast, tea-drinking at home is down over 10%.
The stats were also disclosed about the amount Australians consume in terms of the two beverages each year.
Since 2010, 9.8 billion units of tea have been drunk, versus 12.9 billion of coffee.
Certainly the predictions are that the new generation favours coffee and so perhaps caffeine consumption will continue to rise.
