Coffee Charrieriana
Well natures clearly feeling the effects of too much caffeine, so much so that it has created for the world the first ‘decaffeinated’ coffee plant.
This new strain has been named after Andre Charrier, a coffee expert and professor at the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement in France, a centre of coffee research facility and the great work it has done for the past 20 years.
The Charrieriana coffee plant is naturally caffeine free, an interesting find in itself.
However, couple that with the fact that this rare little beauty is actually self-pollinating and this coffee shrub skyrockets to be the focus for the commercial coffee industry world-wide.
If the coffee scientists can cross pollinate this plant with say, Arabic and Robusta then a new species of self-pollinating coffee plant has been born.
Currently the Charrieriana strain resides in Cameroon, Central Africa but we think you’ll be seeing and hearing a lot more about it in the future.
