Ever sophisticated coffee cups

The entrepreneurs of this world seem to be endlessly refining and adapting the design of ordinary household products to improve them.

And in this drive to boost the usefulness of everyday products, the humble coffee mug has been in the news of late.

Did you see our report on the coffee cup which has a special design tweak, to prevent it creating unsightly coffee rings on the table?

A clever designer has added a special ‘rim’ or groove part of the way down the coffee mug, which is aimed at catching drips from the coffee before they travel to the base of the cup and create the unwanted ‘coffee rings.’

Another news story has highlighted another new coffee mug design of late, too.

As reported in Gizmodo, there is a new design of travel mug on the market which aims to prevent drinkers from scalding themselves on beverages that are too hot.

Or, conversely, by sipping a cup of coffee that is too cold.

What’s the story?

Brando have added a temperature-sensing device to their new design of mug, which shows the temperature of the beverage inside it.

That means that the two digit display on the exterior can let you do the Goldilocks test   make sure it is not too hot and not too cold, but is just right to drink.

The heart on the exterior glows either blue, orange or red, to make this temperature clear (blue: too cold, orange: just right, red: too hot).
