Tata Global Beverages acquires Bronski Eleven
Tata Global Beverage (TGB), the multinational drinks arm of the Tata Group, has announced the purchase of Bronski Eleven Ltd, an Australian-based coffee company.
Bronski Eleven has a long standing presence in the coffee sector but it is through their MAP brand that they are perhaps most well-known to the average joe down under.
Initially formed in 2002 the company initially started off by supplying coffee machines to cafes and bars in Australia before branching out into the coffee roasting market. They are also heavily associated with coffee machines and coffee capsules for the domestic market, as well as supplying these machines to other retailers throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
“The acquisition in Australia will help Tata Global Beverages further expand its offering,” said Ajoy Misra, the managing director and chief executive officer of TGB.
“It also helps us strengthen our portfolio in the high growth contemporary ‘single serve’ business,” he continued.
The move also further cements TGB’s tentative steps towards their vision of becoming a world leader in beverages; though the Indian-based power has a long and arduous climb to make if they are to realise that vision, with Nestle and the soon-to-be created Jacobs Douwe Egberts dominating the market at this moment in time.
Tata already has knowledge of the coffee capsule market, something that will undoubtedly provide positive foundations for their work moving forwards with MAP. Two beverage brands under the Tata umbrella, Tetley tea and Eight O’Clock coffee, are already licensed in North America with Tassimo and Keurig Green Mountain respectively.
In addition with owning various brands of tea and coffee, Tata Global Beverages have been working alongside the US coffee giant Starbucks as they attempt to crack the Indian coffee market.
After the news was made public, the website Moneycontrol.com reported that the value of Tata Global Beverages’ shares increased by 4%, closing the day on Rs150.55 on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
