Coffee good to reduce strokes?

green coffee

Given the huge love of coffee worldwide (the coffee industry is a significant player on the global markets), it is not really surprising that there are many studies underway to work out how the caffeine elixir affects us and our bodies.

One of the key stories at the moment, for instance, is the suggestion that green coffee may be good for weight loss.

However, there is also a suggestion that coffee is of benefit for those who might suffer a stroke.

This theory, if it is developed, could be significant.

The study which has hit the headlines of late relates to a Japanese report.

It was published in the journal, Stroke.

What was revealed by this study?

It was suggested that even if one drinks as little as one cup of joe daily, this could cut down the risk of a stroke by a fifth.

The Japanese study investigated some 82,009 adults over a significant period of time (some 13 years on average) and took into account their eating habits.

In Japan, green tea is more popular than coffee and it seems that this beverage can also aid in reducing the risk of a stroke, although in this case, the individual would need to drink four times as much green tea to get the same effect (four cups of green tea to equal the positive effects of one cup of coffee).

Given the problems which strokes cause, surely it is worth investigating this matter further?

An additional benefit: how often are we told that imbibing or ingesting something pleasurable is good for us?
