Suspended coffee is getting more popular

We reported previously on the concept of a ‘suspended coffee’ and what a great idea it is.

It seems that we are not the only ones to applaud this idea, as it is taking off all over the place.

There has been a report in the Newham Recorder, for instance, that the first coffee shop to adopt the scheme is about to be kickstarted in London too.

So what’s the ‘suspended coffee’ idea exactly?

The idea has been taken from the Italian cultures which favour supporting those in need, by buying them a cup of coffee.

The scheme (as many good ones are) is extremely simple.

You can buy a coffee in a coffee house which participates in the scheme, but it is agreed that the coffee is not made and served to you   rather it is chalked up to a tally for future use.

When a homeless or financially strapped individual enters the coffee house and asks if there is an available drink, they can then take advantage of this pre-paid cup of coffee, without having to pay a penny themselves.

Voila! Simple, but effective.

In these hard economic times, this is a wonderfully good idea, so that the more wealthy can treat and donate a cup of coffee to a good cause.

The participating coffee house which was reported on by the Newham Recorder is called Coffee7 near Forest Gate station.

However, many other coffee shops take part. Why not check out the nearest participating shop near you?
