Romantic Valentine’s coffees

Did you know that Chinese Valentine’s Day was on 13th August this year?

Along with all the other romantic gestures and celebrations, one Taiwanese coffee shop has hit the coffee industry headlines for helping its customers to get romantic over a cup of their lattes.

What’s the story?

As reported by NBC News, the coffee shop has created the image of couples as a form of latte art, to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

Latte art has become very sophisticated of late and many a good coffee house prepares a latte art motif atop their drinks as a matter of course   swirls, hearts and leaves are popular images.

However, baristas have also learned to create images and even 3D sculptures in the milky froth on top of lattes.

The romantic pictures which have been especially prepared for Valentine’s Day are created using a large machine to create the images in edible ink on top of latte foam.

It is a quick process, taking around 5 minutes and the drinks are not pricey.

This is another of the popular ‘photo’ souvenirs (albeit it that the coffee souvenir is short lived) such as photos on mugs, t-shirts, calendars and jigsaws.

It is a popular way of personalising objects without going to great cost.

Would you be happy if your Valentine bought you a ‘couple’ latte art drink?
